Women Development Cell of MM BGIMS organized a session on “Awareness program on Cybercrime” on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The Session was delivered by PI Ghanshyam Patil, Nagpada Police station.
PI Ghanshyam Patil briefed the students of the various types of cybercrimes taking place on a daily basis. He explainedthat crime related to the internet is growing and all should be aware of the cyber security system. Mr.Sandeep Patil repeatedly told everybody that one should be careful while making friends on the net. One must not reveal any personal details like financial details or social status to strangers. He also specified that morphing others photographs, sending malicious emails or mocking someone on social media are punishable crimes and the Police can actually trace the people who create fake ID’s and indulge in such crimes. They repeatedly said that one must not do any financial transactions from any public system, but always use home / personal laptops or PCs or mobile phone. Police further made an appeal on account of International Women’s Day that any female finds herself in trouble she should never keep quiet, rather should reach the Police. They gave the phone number where one could reach the national cybercrime department and also the portal where one could lodge complaints. The session ended with a question answer session where the students cleared their doubts and PI Ghanshyam Patil cheerfully answered their questions. Ms.Nehal Patel, proposed the vote of thanks.
Director Motivated female students to be strong and bold and also quoted examples of Jijajabai, Rani Laxmibai etc. .She told students that bullying or any sort of misbehavior with female or male would not be tolerated in the Institute and should be reported immediately to the Director. She also assured Safety of Students in the campus irrespective of male or female and ended her speech with an appeal to gender equity.
