Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies proudly held its Degree Distribution Ceremony for Batch 2020-2022 on Saturday 5th August 2023, marking a momentous occasion to celebrate the academic achievements and hard work of its graduating students. The event was conducted in a grand manner, filled with joy, pride, and a sense of accomplishment. Distinguished guests, faculty members, family, friends, and students gathered together to witness and share the excitement of this milestone.
The ceremony began with the ceremonial procession with the University song being played in the background. This was followed by the Maratha Mandir prayer song and the lighting of the lamp by the Chef Guest, Guest of Honour, Director, PhD Student Dr. Rajashri Shendge and alumni Vijay Natarajan.
Chief Guest for the ceremony was Mr. Sailesh Viswanathan, General Manager- Beiersdorf India Pvt. Ltd and Guest of Honour was CA Abhijit Deshmukh, Partner of Sanjay Rane & Associates.
The Director Prof. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi welcomed the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour and introduced them to the audience. She shared that the Institute had received its NAAC accreditation with a B ++grade. This was also the first batch of passing out of the doctoral students. It was indeed a moment of great pride for the Institute.
Chief Guest for the ceremony Mr. Sailesh Viswanathan is not just an acclaimed professional but an avid reader as well. He motivated the students with his motivational speech on You, which essentially is an amalgamation of one’s character and competence. He exhorted the students to build their character and competence to become great professionals. Very succinctly he summed up the qualities desired by the corporate world in the prospective candidates.
Guest of Honour CA Abhijeet Deshmukh was happy to announce that his firm had now begun hiring MBAs since they were more on to the application of the finance aspects. He congratulated the graduating batch by saying that in fact the batch was the warriors’ batch since it faced the entire brunt of the pandemic and congratulated them.
The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour presented the degrees and the medals to the first batch of doctoral students, followed by the graduating Batch 2020-2022. It was an emotional moment for the three doctoral students who thanked their guide and mentor and attributed their success to her. Each one of them credited their guide for bringing out the best in them.
Each student walked across the stage, receiving their well-deserved recognition amidst applause from the audience. It was a truly proud moment for both the students and their families. Few parents were part of the audience.
Every year the Institute gives a cash prize to the female topper of the Institute in the Semester IV University examination. It is instituted in memory of Late Shri. B.V. Tambe. This year the winner was Ms. Saloni Kesarkar.
The students clicked pictures post-event with the guests. A total of 21 students were awarded degrees and medals. The program was anchored by the students of the 2022-2024 Batch. The students were also responsible for decorating the venue and helping with all arrangements. The student representative gave a vote of thanks.
