The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell of MM BGIMS organized a Presentation Competition on “Innovation Startup Ideas”. The formally inaugurated Innovation Cell was named AVINYA. Avinya in Sanskrit means Innovation. The basic aim behind this is to groom and guide budding entrepreneurs to develop business plans, help with marketing, financial planning, and compliance and research so that their startups flourish.
The inauguration was at the hands of CA Robin Banerjee and Mr. Harjeet Khanduja and Director Prof. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi.
CA Robin Banerjee is an eminent corporate professional, chartered and cost works accountant, author of 3 bestsellers, and CEO of Caprihans. Mr. Harjeet Khanduja is also an eminent author, poet, TEDx speaker, and corporate professional with a vast experience in the field of HR. He also has 3 patents to his credit.
CA Robin Banerjee said that there is a need to reinvent oneself daily to stay on top. Businesses in India were doing extremely well and to be meritorious in this emerging India the mantra is to introspect and improve. Mr. Khanduja said that one has to have the zeal to learn, innovate, adapt, and earn. It is only when knowledge and skills are laced with attitude does one distinguish themselves from the rest. Adaptability is the key to success in today’s corporate world.
This was followed by the Presentation Competition “Innovation Startup Ideas”.
The students prepared a business model and explained the same. The judges evaluated them on the following criteria:
1. Workability of the idea, 2. Investment with financial tie-up plans, 3. Structure of organization, 4. Name of the Organization, 5. Marketing Plan and 6. Group Presentation
Students were divided in 6 groups. The topics were:

Winner: Director Prof. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi declared the winner. The winning group was Group No. 5 – Super Stockiest of a pharmaceutical company. Students of a group no. 5 were: Arag Snehal Laxman, Bendre Indraneel Nandkumar, Bramhankar Ashish Laxman, Gupta Rahul Dayashankar, Kamatkar Dipeksha Madhukar, Kamble Ashish Maruti, Kanojia Aniket Avinash, Mhatre Samiksha Chandrakant, Rogaye Rhutuja Ramesh
Learning: Students understood the distinguishing factors to get ahead of the crowd. The lacunae in the plans were pointed and so were the feasibility and workability of the plan. The judges encouraged the students to take up the challenge of owning a business.
Feedback: Students were happy with the feedback and their confidence was boosted.
