International Yoga Day 2023
International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2023, online and offline for students, faculties, and staff. We invited Mrs. Vandana Pradeep Khuman who is an experienced Yoga Instructor in Mumbai. Vandana is a certified Yoga Teacher, she is an alumnus of ‘The Yoga Institute’, Santacruz, Mumbai. This is world’s first yoga centre, which was established in 1918.
We commemorate Yoga Day to raise awareness about the several benefits of yoga and promote its holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Today our students and staff practiced Chair Yoga under direction of Vandana Khuman. Chair Yoga is practiced by modifying yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a chair. This practice allows quick break from office work, lectures, or teaching. While doing chair yoga many of the basic body mechanics of the individual postures remain the same. While seated on chairs, students can do versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild backbends.
Vandana included Surya Namaskar, Seated tadasana, pavanamuktasana, Urdhva Hastasana, and Trikonasana etc. The session began with Kapalbhati. The one hour session made the participants refreshful and blissful.
