The Student Development Cell along with Cultural Committee conducted the “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” event, which commenced on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024. The event successfully engaged and motivated young, first-time voters through a variety of activities. On Day-3, a session on Essay Writing was held, focusing on topics pertinent to Indian democracy and the electoral process. Participants, consisting of 59 students from MMBGIMS, were given the opportunity to express their views on one of the following topics:
- Is India really a democratic country?
- Indians have not understood the importance of their votes.
- Role of the Election Commission in the Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha.
- Is age 18 correct for voting?
- Why people don’t vote?
This session aimed to cultivate a sense of responsibility and civic duty among the participants. Furthermore, participants were encouraged to share their essays to amplify the outreach of the event. The activities conducted on Day-3 garnered positive responses, promoting awareness and understanding of the electoral process, the importance of voting rights, and the significance of voting itself. The event facilitated thought-provoking discussions and raised awareness about the importance of voting for the betterment of the nation. With continued support and active involvement, the event endeavors to stimulate greater voter turnout and participation in the forthcoming elections. By fostering an informed and participative electorate, the event ultimately aims to contribute to a stronger democracy.
