MM BGIMS conducted a webinar on 25th July 2020 addressing the “Importance of Soft Skills in Leadership.” The session was conducted by Dr. Randhir Singh Lamba, AVP Corporate Relations, Mumbai International Airport Ltd. Dr. Lamba opened the session with an insight into the power of communication and how important it was to understand what soft skill actually means. He pointed out that only 7% of communication is vocal or verbal the remaining comes from our body language and tonality of the voice. He emphasized on the need to understand this before actually honing soft skills. He advised the students that soft skills can only improve if we have compassion and empathy towards all stakeholders, personal and professional alike. He also threw light on the need to have control over one’s emotions while interacting with other individuals and enlightened the audience on the power of silence in soft skills. He asked the audience to observe the situation and listen to people before responding to it. Dr. Lamba mentioned that the best time to remain calm and silent is during a crisis, such as the one we are going through now. He concluded the session by reiterating that hard skills may give us grades, but soft skills will give us wings.
