Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies hosted a landmark CSR initiative along with Babasaheb Gawde School of Creative Arts. The event was held in association with Hustle Goal Foundation and Rotary Club of Mumbai South. The event was held to launch the very first skill building workshop for sex workers and their children and saw several dignitaries attending the function to support the cause.
The guest of honor for the occasion was Shri Gauri Sawant, a formidable activist for transgender rights and a passionate orator who aims to get absolute equity to the transgender community. Shri Gauri Sawant addressed the audience with emotion-driven anecdotes of the atrocities that women undergo, which never gets addressed. She urged the students to utilize this course as a welcome opportunity and take the first steps towards a better life. Mr. Sunnil Mehra, a successful textile businessman and a dedicated Rotarian informed the audience on the various initiatives that the Rotary Club has planned in line with the theme of the event.
The students of the workshop interacted with the audience, sharing the plight of their current profession and also expressed their gratitude towards the opportunity provided. Subsequently make up kits were distributed to the students by Shri Gauri Sawant.The event concluded with a vote of thanks followed by interaction of dignitaries with media and college management.
