Swachhta Pakhwada Week 2023
Day 1: Community Service Unit of MMBGIMS organised Swachhta Pakhwada Week from September 25th 2023 to October 3rd 2023for MMS SEM-I and III Students. Director Prof. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi, Dr. Rajashri Shendge, Ms. Jessica Menezes along with 67 students participated by taking a pledge to be committed towards cleanliness and devote time to Swachh Bharat.
Day 2: Swachhta Pakhwada Awareness Day was celebrated on 26th September 2023. This session was conducted by faculty Ms. Sadiya Fuggawala. The objective was to create a clean and healthy environment for all, focusing on both rural and urban areas. Swachhta Awareness Abhiyan seeks to bring about behavioural change among individuals, making them more responsible and aware of their role in maintaining a clean environment. Examples were given of start-up Ideas- E vehicles, E Management, Robotic Drain Clearance, and New Cloth from Chicken Feather. Total 68 students participated in this programme.
Day 3: Swachhta Pakhwada Day 3 Handwash Day was celebrated on 27th September 2023. A presentation on the importance of handwashing was given by faculty Mr. Aakash Rebello. A demonstration of the correct way to wash hands was given to the students. Total 75 students participated in Handwash Day
Day 4: Swachhta Pakhwada Day 4 was poster making competition. This session was by faculty Mr. Sabir Mujawar and Mr. Chinmay Khadapkar. There was vibrant participation from 10 groups in a poster-making competition. Their mission: to illustrate the vision of a “Garbage-Free India.” With boundless creativity and a shared commitment to a cleaner, greener nation. The posters, both compelling and thought-provoking, served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to eliminate waste and promote a healthier, more sustainable future for India. Total 31 students participated in this event.
Day 5: Swachhta Pakhwada Day 5 Personal Hygiene Day was celebrated on 30th September 2023. A presentation on the importance of Personal Health care and Hygiene was given by faculty Ms. Jessica Menezes. Total 54 students participated in Personal Hygiene Day
Day 6: Swachhta Pakhwada Day 6 Green Campus was celebrated on 3rd October 2023. “Green Campus” initiative at MM BGIMS, emphasises the goal of promoting sustainability and engaging students in sustainable practices. The primary objective of the initiative is to create a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility among the college community. Mr. Santosh Datkhile along with Ms. Jessica Menezes and Mr. Aakash Rebello gathered ideas from students of MMS Sem. III & I, on how to improve green practices on the campus of MM BGIMS. Students suggested the following ideas- E-governance, e-examination, optimum use of electricity, tree plantation, rainwater harvesting, e-library, installation of bins for collecting e-waste etc. Total 82 students attended the session.
