1. Introduction
This report presents the findings and efforts undertaken by students of MMS Sem II to create awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The initiative was carried out under the expert guidance of our respected Director, Dr. Vidya Hattangadi. The students had to design posters and put up in clinics, nursing home, hospitals, medical shops etc.
2. Objective of the Survey
The main objective of this survey was to create awareness about Multiple Sclerosis, an often misunderstood and underdiagnosed neurological condition. Through this initiative, we aimed to educate people in the healthcare sector—including doctors, medical staff, and patients—about MS and its impact on lives.
3. Methodology
- The survey was conducted through the following steps:
Visiting various hospitals, clinics, and medical stores across different areas.
• Distributing informational material and verbally educating people about MS.
• Sticking awareness posters provided by MSSI in visible areas of each visited location.
• Engaging in interactive discussions with healthcare professionals to understand their awareness levels.
• Gathering feedback and observations regarding general public and professional awareness of MS.
4. Team Participation
The survey was executed by the entire MBA batch, where each group was assigned specific locations. We coordinated our visits, ensured proper documentation, and reported back with visual and written evidence of our outreach.
5. Key Observations
Awareness about Multiple Sclerosis among the general public and medical practitioners was found to be limited in many areas.
Many healthcare providers appreciated the initiative and welcomed the posters for display in their premises.
People expressed interest in knowing more about MS once introduced to the concept
There is a significant need for continued awareness campaigns to bridge the knowledge gap.
6. Impact of the Campaign
- Posters were successfully placed in more than 50 healthcare facilities.
•The campaign facilitated direct interactions with several doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.
•The initiative boosted confidence and teamwork among student participants while contributing to a meaningful social cause.
7. Conclusion
This awareness drive was created for creating a spirit of social entrepreneurship. It helped us develop communication, planning, and community engagement skills. We are grateful to MSSI for entrusting us with this impactful initiative, and to our guide Dr. Vidya Hattangadi for her constant support and encouragement.
