    (Cyber Bullying: Implications and Laws)

A session on “Cyber Bullying: Implications and Laws” was organized by Student Development cell of MMBGIMS in collaboration with Agripada Police Station on 25th October 2024 between 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM for MMS Semester – I, Batch 2024-26. The event aimed to educate students on the growing threat of cybercrimes and the importance of awareness in today’s digital world. 60 students and 9 faculty members participated in this informative session.

The session was inaugurated by Police Inspector Mr. Umesh Karanjawane, who provided an in-depth understanding of various types of cyber frauds. He discussed common cyber threats, including online scams, fraudulent financial transactions, cryptocurrency frauds, and the rising menace of Telegram frauds. Inspector Karanjawane emphasized real-life cases from regions like Jamtara, notorious for cyber fraud activities, illustrating how criminals exploit technology for monetary gain.

Following this, Police Inspector Ms. Pratima Pawar addressed the audience on cybercrimes targeting young women and men. She shared insights into crimes specifically aimed at young boys and girls, focusing on safeguarding personal data and maintaining privacy on digital platforms. Inspector Pawar highlighted the growing prevalence of cyberbullying and harassment on social media, which affect mental health and personal well-being. Her session underlined the need for vigilance in online interactions and the importance of reporting cyberbullying and harassment cases.

The final speaker, Police Inspector Mr. Muzzafar Sayyad, reinforced the theme of the session with his message, “Bachav ke liye gyaan zaruri hai” (“Knowledge is essential for self-protection”). Inspector Sayyed encouraged students to stay informed about the tactics cybercriminals employ to deceive and harm individuals. He stressed that awareness is the first step toward prevention and that informed citizens can better protect themselves and others in society.

The session proved highly informative and underscored the importance of cyber awareness, especially among the youth. In an era where technology is deeply integrated into everyday life, the risk of falling victim to cybercrimes and cyberbullying has become more prominent. The event was an essential reminder of the significance of staying educated, vigilant, and proactive in recognizing and combating cyber threats. Such initiatives empower young individuals to make informed decisions online and contribute to a safer digital community for all. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to all the Police Inspectors from the faculty.
