Students of the MMS and BMS programmes of Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies successfully completed a six-day Industrial Visit to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer from 10th February to 15th February 2026. The visit was organized with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to industrial operations, media management, tourism economics, and heritage-based business models, while also encouraging experiential learning and team building. 32 Students from MMS, 2 Students from BMS Participated in the Industrial Visit.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the historic Mehrangarh Fort, where they observed how heritage tourism contributes to the regional economy. The students also visited the printing facility of Dainik Bhaskar, one of India’s leading newspaper organizations. At the press, students observed the entire newspaper production process, including content layout, plate preparation, high-speed printing, folding, and large-scale distribution. The visit provided practical insights into production management, media operations, and mass communication systems.
The group then travelled to Jaisalmer, popularly known as the Golden City. En route, students visited the Jaisalmer War Museum, which highlighted the achievements and history of the Indian Armed Forces. A memorable desert experience followed at the Sam Sand Dunes, where students enjoyed a camel safari and a traditional Rajasthani cultural evening featuring folk music and dance. This experience demonstrated the economic importance of desert tourism and cultural entertainment in Rajasthan.
Students also explored significant heritage sites including Kuldhara Village, Patwon Ki Haveli, and the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort. These visits helped students understand the importance of heritage conservation and sustainable tourism models.
As part of the media exposure component of the visit, students also visited the office of News 24, where media professionals explained the processes involved in news collection, reporting, editing, verification, and broadcasting. Students gained valuable insights into newsroom coordination, media ethics, live reporting systems, and the role of technology in modern news broadcasting.
Before concluding the visit, the group explored the iconic Umaid Bhawan Palace, where students learned about heritage hotel management and luxury tourism. The visit highlighted how historical palaces are preserved and transformed into premium hospitality establishments that significantly contribute to the tourism industry.
Overall, the Industrial Visit proved to be a highly enriching experience that combined academic learning with real-world exposure. Students gained valuable insights into media operations, tourism management, and heritage-based economic models while strengthening teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
