Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India. Under UBA students of higher education visit villages and undertake creating awareness about persisting social problems such water storage, solar energy, sanitation, government schemes such as Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Bachat gat, education for girls, women empowerment etc.
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship national program of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and IIT Delhi has been designated to function as lead and coordinating organization for UBA activities in the country.
Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Govt. of India launched Unnat Bharat Abhiyan programme on 11th Novembter, 2014 to implement the idea of Mahatma Gandhi about the villages and bring awareness about various schemes implemented by the Govt. of India for the benefit of villagers.
IIT Delhi has taken initiative to implement this programe in various states; we at Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies participated in the initiative taken by IIT Dalhi by adopting villages Teenvira and Palee in Raigad district and Umroli, Chinchani and Savaroli of Palghar District we surveyed approximately 1200 households.
20 students of Second year MMS along with two faculties Dr. Govind Shinde and Ms. Rajashri Sonavane visited Teenvira and Palee villages of Raigad district and 80 students from first year batch of MMS along with Dr. Chitra Gounder, CA Vinay Tiwari and Mr. Santosh Datkhile, visited Umroli, Chinchani and Savaroli villages to interact with the villagers, Gram Panchayat Members and conducted household survey and villagers survey regarding availability of toilets, drainage system, waste collection, composed pit, biogas plant. Also, our faculties and students conducted survey about awareness of Government schemes such as P.M. Jan Dhan Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana for girl child, Mudra Yojana about micro units, PM Jeevan Jyoti Insurance scheme, Atal pension yojana, Kaushal Vikas Yojana for skill development, Janani Suraksha Yojana for new mothers, Fasal Bima Yolana for crops, Kisan Credit Card, Krishi Sanchayi Yojana etc. We conducted the surveys as per the guidelines given by the UBA Coordinator of IIT Delhi.
Our Institute has received grants from UBA of Rs. Fifty Thousand only. We covered five villages under the scheme.
