The Community Service Unit of Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies celebrated World Senior Citizens Day on 22nd August 2023. The SYMMS students participated in Group Discussion which was conducted by the Director Prf. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi. Four groups were formed consisting of 8 members in each group. Total 32 students participated in the Group Discussion. The topics for Group Discussion were as follows
- What’s more important Career or taking care of ageing parents.
- Should senior citizens save for their children or go for travel tour post retirement.
- Should senior citizens retire or go for Second Innings. (Career)
- Are senior citizens safe in India
The aim of this Group Discussion was to help the younger generation connect with the senior citizens and get insights from them. Our Director Prof. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi addressed the students and spoke about how youth can bring about a change in society and bring a smile to the face of senior citizens. She shared the change in the lifestyle of today’s generation neglecting the older generation at the time when they need them the most.
It was an overall great experience to hear from the students about their experience with senior citizens on World Senior Citizen Day.
