MAGMA 2026: A Grand Celebration of Talent, Culture, and Innovation
Theme: Bollywood Through the Ages
Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies (MMBGIMS) is a reputed institute committed to academic excellence and holistic student development. With a strong emphasis on professional education, industry interaction, and experiential learning, the institute consistently provides students with a vibrant and dynamic environment that nurtures talent beyond academics through a wide range of academic, cultural, and co-curricular initiatives.
MAGMA 2026: An Intercollegiate Cultural Extravaganza
MAGMA 2026, the annual intercollegiate cultural fest organized by the Cultural Committee of MMBGIMS, was successfully conducted from 19th January to 24th January 2026. This year’s edition was conceptualized around the captivating theme “Bollywood Through the Ages”, celebrating the evolution of Indian cinema—from the golden era classics to contemporary blockbusters.
The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation from 25 colleges across Mumbai, with an average daily footfall of 125–130 students and a total of 561 participants. Of these, 244 entries were recorded for external events and 317 for internal events, reflecting the growing scale, popularity, and reputation of MAGMA as a major intercollegiate cultural platform.
Creative Anchoring & Theme Execution
Adding a unique theatrical charm to the fest, the anchors creatively took on the roles of iconic Bollywood characters, bringing the theme alive on stage. Characters such as Gabbar Singh, Munna Bhai and Circuit, and Amitabh Bachchan as the host of KBC interacting with a student contestant entertained the audience while seamlessly guiding the flow of events. This innovative anchoring style enhanced audience engagement and reinforced the Bollywood theme throughout the week-long celebration.

CL Meet Initiative
In addition to the cultural events, the institute also organised a CL Meet as part of MAGMA 2026 on 22nd December 2025. Representatives from 15 colleges participated in the meet, demonstrating keen interest in collaboration, networking, and future intercollegiate cultural initiatives. The CL Meet served as a valuable platform for idea exchange, strengthening intercollegiate relationships and expanding the cultural footprint of MMBGIMS.
Sponsorship and Support
MAGMA 2026 received generous support from esteemed sponsors. Finlatics was the Title Sponsor ₹40,000, while the Bank of Maharashtra extended sponsorship support amounting to ₹35,000, playing a crucial role in the smooth execution of the fest.
Additional sponsors included Sonam Finvest Services Pvt. Ltd., Sajhili, Twin City Technologies, Raj Kamal Jewellers, and 19 by Quaswa Kitchen & Co. The total sponsorship received amounted to ₹ 90,000 in cash and ₹ 5,000 in kind. Maharashtra Times served as the official media partner, providing valuable media coverage and visibility pre and throughout the event.
Chief Guest, Judges and Dignitaries
Our Chief guest for the event was Harshavardhan Wavre .He is a popular Marathi playback singer, performer, and music director known for his work in the Marathi film and music industry. He is recognized for his versatile voice and has performed in various genres, including romantic and film hits
The major cultural events were judged by distinguished professionals:
- Ms. Gautami Shyam Shinde, a versatile dancer and choreographer skilled in Bollywood, Garba, Contemporary, Folk, Hip-hop, Semi-classical, and Lavani.
- Ms. Kalyani Shroff, a trained fashion designer with extensive freelance styling experience across films, television shows, advertisements, and web series.
The event was further honoured by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, Mrs Vandana Gawde and Dr. Sonam Gawde, whose encouragement and support added prestige to the fest.
Awards and Special Recognitions
To acknowledge excellence and participation, winners and runners-up across events were awarded cash prizes, medals, and certificates. Special trophies were awarded as follows:
- PR Trophy: Lala Lajpat Rai College of Commerce and Economics
- Best College Trophy: Maharshi Dayanand College of Arts, Science and Commerce
- Maximum Participation Trophy: Maharashtra College
