Swachhta Pakhwada Week at MBGIMS: A Celebration of Cleanliness, Creativity, and Community Responsibility
Maratha Mandir Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies (MBGIMS) celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada Week with great enthusiasm under the aegis of the Community Service Unit. The week witnessed vibrant participation from students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and external stakeholders. A series of thoughtfully curated activities seamlessly blended cleanliness drives, creative expression, fun-filled engagement, and social responsibility, reinforcing the spirit of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Day 1 – 23rd September 2025
The week commenced with an Oath-Taking Ceremony, where students and faculty pledged their commitment to cleanliness and sustainable practices. The session was followed by screening of inspiring songs, including “Earth” by Michael Jackson, setting a reflective and motivating tone for the week ahead.
Day 2 – 24th September 2025
A Clean Classroom Contest was organized for all FY and SY MMS students across specializations—Finance, HR, Operations, and Marketing. Students demonstrated exceptional creativity and teamwork while maintaining hygiene and aesthetics in their classrooms. SY MMS Marketing students emerged as the winners.
Day 3 – 25th September 2025
Creativity took center stage with a Fashion Show using Waste Materials. FY MMS students impressed the audience with innovative outfits crafted from garbage bags under the theme “Abba Dabba Chabba”, securing first place. SY MMS students won the second prize with a colorful and energetic parade of recycled attire.
Day 4 – 26th September 2025
Faculty members organized engaging Eco-Fun Games, including Blindfold Dustbin Direction and Dumb Charades with eco-themed words. The activities combined learning with entertainment, and the FY MMS team led by Raj & Group emerged victorious.
Day 5 – 27th September 2025
A large-scale Cleanliness Drive was conducted on Jagjivan Ram Hospital Road, in collaboration with the BMC E Ward. The drive was led by Mr. Bangar, Ms. Bharti, and their team comprising 20 workers and 3 officers, along with 50 students, 8 faculty members, and non-teaching staff. Equipped with gloves, masks, brooms, and dustbins provided by the BMC, the team cleaned the stretch up to Maratha Mandir, demonstrating active civic participation and social accountability.
Day 6 – 29th September 2025
An Eco-Stall Exhibition showcased eco-friendly products created by FY and SY MMS students. Items such as jeans bags, paper-quilling crafts, chemical-free mehendi, and handmade bookmarks were displayed and sold. Faculty and staff enthusiastically supported the initiative, and the proceeds were used to distribute vada pav to street children, spreading awareness along with compassion.
Day 7 – 30th September 2025
The week concluded with a Reel-Making Competition, where students created impactful reels on Swachhta themes and shared them on Instagram in collaboration with the institute’s official page. The entries were evaluated by judges, and winners across all events were felicitated with certificates, marking a memorable conclusion to the week.
Conclusion
The Swachhta Pakhwada Week at MBGIMS was a resounding success, fostering awareness about cleanliness, sustainability, and responsible citizenship. The collective enthusiasm of students, faculty, staff, and the invaluable support of the BMC played a pivotal role in making the initiative meaningful, impactful, and socially enriching.
