CGRC Guidelines

What is the CGRC?

The College Grievance Redressal Cell (CGRC) is an official body set up to help students resolve complaints and problems related to college. It gives every student a fair and structured way to raise issues and get them addressed quickly.

Key Principle: The CGRC follows the principles of natural justice — every party is heard, every decision is fair, and efforts are always made to resolve matters amicably.

How Do I Register a Grievance?

Filing a grievance is simple and done online. Follow these steps:

1 Go Online

Visit your college/institute website and find the CGRC grievance portal.

2 Fill the Form

Complete all required fields carefully. Incomplete information will not be processed.

3 Upload Documents

Attach any supporting documents that help explain your grievance.

4 Submit

Submit your application. Your grievance will be registered and assigned a number.

5 Wait for Hearing

The CGRC will schedule a meeting within 15 days. You will be informed of the date, time, and venue.

Important: Grievances must be complete and genuine. False, frivolous, or sub-judice (cases already in court) applications will not be entertained.

Who Runs the CGRC?

The CGRC is made up of three key roles:

Role Who Main Responsibility
Chairperson Principal / Head / Director Presides over meetings and finalises decisions
Member Secretary Designated Faculty/Officer Manages applications, meetings, records & reporting
Members CGRC Committee Members Review cases, attend hearings, and vote on resolutions
What Happens at a CGRC Meeting?

Here is what you can expect once your grievance is taken up:

  • Your application is scrutinised and placed on the meeting agenda.
  • You will be informed of the date, time, and venue in advance.
  • You may appear in person to present your case. If you cannot attend, a parent or guardian (not a lawyer) may represent you.
  • All concerned parties are heard — the CGRC ensures everyone gets a chance to speak.
  • The CGRC may also call staff, experts, or other concerned persons as needed.
  • A resolution is passed and communicated to you in writing.
Key Timelines
Activity Timeline

When Will a Grievance NOT Be Entertained?

The CGRC will reject applications that are:

  • Based on false or misleading information.
  • Frivolous, fictitious, or without any valid basis.
  • Already under court proceedings (sub-judice).
  • Filed with significant and unreasonable delay.
  • Not related to the college or institution.

Note: Filing a false or frivolous complaint can result in action being taken against you. Always be honest and accurate in your application.
