The Student Development Committee and IQAC of Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies organized a special session on “Yoga for Health” on 20th June 2026 at 9:30 a.m. The 90-minute session was conducted by Dr. Manoj Varade, Yoga Practitioner and Wellness Coach, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 25 students and 15 faculty members.
The session aimed to create awareness about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall health. Dr. Varade guided participants through various yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, highlighting their role in improving flexibility, concentration, posture, and stress management. A special demonstration of chair yoga poses was also conducted, showcasing simple exercises that can be practiced in academic and workplace settings.
During the interactive session, participants gained valuable insights into the therapeutic and preventive health benefits of yoga, including improved cardiovascular health, stronger immunity, enhanced emotional balance, and better management of lifestyle-related stress. The expert also emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines to achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
The programme proved to be an enriching learning experience for both students and faculty members, encouraging them to adopt wellness practices that contribute to personal growth and holistic development. The activity also supported the attainment of Ability to Develop Value-Based Leadership, as yoga fosters self-discipline, mindfulness, emotional resilience, and self-management, which are essential qualities for effective leadership and professional success.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shilpa Shinde, who expressed gratitude to the resource person and appreciated the active participation of all attendees.
