About the Event
On the occasion of Nature Conservation Day, the Green Club Committee of MMBGIMS organized a Nature Walk at the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) Conservation Education Centre (CEC), Goregaon, Mumbai, on 28th July 2026. Sponsored by MMBGIMS, the programme provided an excellent platform for students to experience nature firsthand and understand the importance of biodiversity conservation.
A total of 31 students from the MMS and BMS programmes, accompanied by two faculty members, participated in the event. The programme commenced with an orientation session by BNHS naturalists, who highlighted the significance of Nature Conservation Day, biodiversity, and the role of BNHS in wildlife conservation.
The participants were divided into two groups, each led by a BNHS nature guide and a faculty member, for an interactive guided nature trail. During the walk, students explored a wide variety of native trees, medicinal plants, insects, butterflies, birds, spiders, and other wildlife while learning about their ecological importance and the need to conserve natural ecosystems. The interactive discussions and field observations helped students connect classroom learning with real-world environmental practices.
After the trail, participants enjoyed refreshments and attended a brief session on the BNHS Student Membership Programme, where they learned about opportunities to participate in conservation initiatives and environmental awareness activities. The event concluded with a group photograph, marking the successful completion of an informative and memorable learning experience.
