Introduction
The Green Club of Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies (MMBGIMS) organized a meaningful and creative celebration of World Wildlife Day on 2nd March 2026. World Wildlife Day is observed globally on 3rd March each year to raise awareness about the world’s wild animals and plants and the urgent need for their conservation. MMBGIMS marked the occasion on 2nd March 2026 with a unique awareness activity that combined technology, creativity, and education to promote wildlife conservation among students and staff.
About the Event
The activity was designed to encourage students to research and present information about wild animals — both extinct and currently living — in an interactive and visually engaging format. Students participated in groups of 6 and undertook the following tasks.
Each group selected a wild animal of their choice — extinct species such as the Dodo, Woolly Mammoth, or Thylacine, or currently living endangered species such as the Bengal Tiger, Snow Leopard, or Amur Leopard.
- Students prepared a detailed write-up about their selected animal, covering its habitat, diet, behavior, conservation status, and threats to its survival.
- A QR code was generated by each group, linking to a PDF document containing all the relevant information about the animal.
- The QR code was paired with a photograph or hand-drawn illustration of the selected animal and displayed on boards and walls at designated spots across the MMBGIMS campus.
The campus transformed into a mini wildlife awareness exhibition, with students, faculty, and visitors scanning QR codes to explore fascinating facts about different species. The displays were vibrant, informative, and creatively designed, making the learning experience engaging for everyone on campus.
The activity effectively merged digital tools with awareness campaigns, reflecting how modern technology can be leveraged to spread important environmental messages. The Green Club facilitated the entire event — from guiding students on QR code generation to ensuring proper display arrangements across the campus.
Activity Instructions Followed by Participants
- Choose a wild animal (extinct or currently living).

- Attach the QR code along with the animal photo/illustration on a display board or campus wall at the designated areas.
