Globally, forest cover is one-third less than what it once was and global deforestation continues at 18 million hectares per year. This indiscriminate felling of trees needs to be undertaken on a large scale to reverse the ill effects of deforestation and restore the ecological balance.
We, at BGIMS, recognize the importance of tree plantation, we don’t believe only in talking but implementing the drive with actions. On Wednesday, 14th August 2019, to commemorate the 73rd Independence Day of India and to be a part of AICTE initiative “One Student One Tree”, we celebrated tree plantation event. Through the event we were successful in educating and creating a sense of responsibility among the students towards Mother Nature.
Our students and faculty members planted tree saplings of Gulmohar and Curry Tree in the campus. The participants were highly enthusiastic and they made it a big success.
