World Forest Day
The Green Club Committee of MMBGIMS celebrated International Day of Forests on 21st March 2025 by organizing a unique and eco-conscious activity. The Seed Ball Preparation and Planting Drive for students of MMS Batch 2024–26, Semester II. The event encouraged students to engage with nature from their homes by making seed balls and planting them in their nearby surroundings or planters.
This initiative aimed to foster environmental responsibility among students and promote the idea of contributing to a greener planet through simple, actionable steps. The activity aligned with the broader vision of sustainability and aimed to make students more aware of their ecological impact
Students participated by preparing seed balls using natural materials like soil, compost, and native seeds. They documented their process by submitting a photo and video of themselves making and planting the seed balls via a link shared on MS Teams.
Each submission demonstrated the student’s creativity, commitment to the environment, and hands-on approach to sustainability. The event not only encouraged students to give back to nature but also helped them understand the cycle of growth and the importance of afforestation.
The most heartwarming part of the initiative was watching the students’ efforts come to life — many shared pictures of sprouts emerging from the soil, symbolizing birth to new life.
Learning and Feedback
Students learned the importance of ecological balance, biodiversity, and individual responsibility in environmental conservation. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing a deep sense of satisfaction and motivation to engage in more green initiatives.
Many students appreciated the flexibility and creativity the activity allowed, while also noting the joy of watching something they planted begin to grow
Conclusion
The Seed Ball Activity organized by the Green Club Committee was a commendable initiative. It encouraged students to reconnect with nature, take actionable steps toward sustainability, and witness the tangible outcomes of their efforts.
The initiative beautifully highlighted how simple actions at an individual level can make a meaningful impact on our environment. The Green Club Committee looks forward to conducting more such engaging and eco-friendly activities in the future.
