The Cultural Committee of Maratha Mandir’s Babasaheb Gawde Institute of Management Studies (MMBGIMS) organized an Independence Day Celebration on 14 August 2026 for students in both the BMS and MMS programmes. The celebration was organized to commemorate the spirit of Independence Day and provide students with an opportunity to express patriotism through cultural, creative, and participative activities.
The programme brought together students and staff through a blend of cultural performances, a fashion show, quiz, skit, and musical presentations. The event flow was designed to encourage active student participation while creating an atmosphere of national pride and togetherness.

About the Event
The Pre-Independence Day Celebration was conducted on 14 August 2026 and included participation from both BMS and MMS students, along with faculty and staff members.
The programme commenced with an address by the Director, followed by a series of cultural and interactive activities. The BMS students presented a dance performance, followed by a fashion show. MMS students participated through a singing performance and a skit, while staff members also contributed with a singing performance.
An interactive quiz was conducted to add an element of knowledge and engagement to the celebration. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem and Rajya Geet.
As a continuation of the Independence Day celebrations, a Flag Hoisting Ceremony was conducted on 15 August 2026 at the institute. The ceremony was attended by students and staff members, who came together to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India. The flag hoisting ceremony provided an opportunity for the entire institute community to come together in a spirit of patriotism, unity, and respect for the nation.
Learning Outcomes
The celebration provided students from both BMS and MMS programmes with an opportunity to develop teamwork, communication, confidence, creativity, and leadership skills through active participation in cultural performances, the quiz, fashion show, and skit. The event also helped students develop a sense of patriotism, national pride, social responsibility, and appreciation for cultural values, while encouraging collaboration and participation beyond the classroom.
Feedback
Feedback was collected from the participating students to understand their overall experience and assess the effectiveness of the celebration. The feedback focused on aspects such as overall organization, programme flow, cultural performances, engagement, enjoyment, and the extent to which the event created a sense of patriotism and pride in the nation.
The feedback mechanism also provided students with an opportunity to identify the aspects they enjoyed most and share suggestions for improving similar events in the future.
Conclusion
The Pre-Independence Day Celebration on 14 August 2026, followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony on 15 August 2026, provided a meaningful platform for the BMS and MMS students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the spirit of Independence. Through cultural performances, interactive activities, and the flag hoisting ceremony, students developed teamwork, confidence, communication, leadership, and a deeper sense of patriotism and social responsibility. The two-day celebration successfully fostered unity, national pride, cultural appreciation, and value-based learning among the institute community. Total 31 students and 20 staff attended the session.
