Introduction
The NO-TECH IT HACKATHON was conducted for MCA First Year students on 11th September 2026 in the MCA classroom. The event encouraged students to identify real-world problems and develop technology-enabled solutions using physical prototypes without mobile phones, computers, or the internet.
The main objectives were to identify real-world problems, design innovative solutions, build physical prototypes, demonstrate them, and explain how they could be developed into real IT products.
Activities Conducted
A total of 35 students participated in five teams of seven members each. Students selected problem statements, discussed solutions, and created prototypes using paper, cardboard, sticky notes, and craft materials. They demonstrated their ideas through physical models and role-play, following the theme Think, Design, Build, Test, Pitch.
The three main rules were no mobile phones, no computers or tablets, and no internet. Every team member was required to contribute.
Prototypes Developed
The five teams developed the following prototypes:
- Advance M Indicator
- E.C.G.R. – Emergency, Communication, Guidance, Response
- Hospital Patient Care System
- College Registration Services
- Robot for Helping Senior Citizens
Each team presented its prototype to demonstrate its proposed technology-enabled solution
Judging Criteria and Awards
The projects were evaluated for 50 marks based on problem clarity, innovation, solution quality, prototype demonstration, pitch, teamwork, and practical impact.
The awards included Best Overall Hackathon Team, Most Innovative Idea, Best Prototype, Best Social Impact, Best Pitch, Best Future-Tech Concept, and Best Team Collaboration.
Outcomes and Conclusion
The event resulted in the development and presentation of five physical prototypes. It provided students with an opportunity to identify real-world problems, develop innovative solutions, and enhance their teamwork and presentation skills.
The activity aligned with PO2 (Problem Analysis) through identifying and analysing problems, PO3 (Development of Solutions) through designing and developing prototypes, and PO5 (Individual and Teamwork) through team collaboration and presentation of ideas. The event emphasized the importance of understanding a problem, developing an appropriate solution, and exploring how an idea can be transformed into a real IT product.
